It should fit a small to medium adult head, it's very stretchy.<br />
<br />
I used a sport weight yarn for one, and a worsted weight yarn for another. It really depends on how you want the final product to look. Using the sport weight yarn made the hat have a more lacy look, whereas using the worsted weight yarn gave the hat a more solid appearance.<br />
If you like a longer slouchy, increase dc rows between row 5 and 8 to however long you like it.<br />
<br />
Materials:<br />
Yarn - a medium weight is recommended. I have not tested this pattern with bulky yarn.<br />
I hook<br />
K hook<br />
Tapestry needle<br />
<br />
R1: With K hook, <a href="http://youtu.be/sCm1mnyRCfI" target="_blank">FDC</a> 72. Ch 2, turn<br />
R2: <a href="http://youtu.be/mawHHZyaWpI" target="_blank">FPDC</a>, <a href="http://youtu.be/aWdevHEtSk0" target="_blank">BPDC</a> to the end of the piece. Sl st to the first st on the foundation row.<br />
R3 & 4: ch 2 FPDC, BPDC around. Sl st to first st of the row<br />
~~Switch to I hook.<br />
R5-8: ch 2 Dc each dc around, sl st to the first st of the row<br />
R9: ch 2. Dc in next 5 dc, dc2 tog. *dc in next 6 sts, dc 2 tog. Repeat from * to end. Sl st to first st of round.<br />
R10: Ch 2. Dc in next 3 sts. dc 2 tog. *dc in next 4 sts dc 2 tog. Repeat from * to end. sl st to first st in round<br />
R11: Ch 2 Dc in next 2 sts dc 2 tog. *dc in next 3 sts. dc 2 tog. Repeat from * to end. Sl st to first st in round<br />
R12: Ch 2. Dc in next st. dc 2 tog. * dc in next 2 sts. dc 2 tog. Repeat from * to end of round. Sl st to first st in round<br />
R13: Ch 2. Dc in nesst st. dc 2 tog. * dc, dc 2 tog to end of round. sl st to first st in round.<br />
R14: Ch 2. Dc next st. Dc 2 tog to end of round. Sl st to first st in round<br />
R15: Ch 1. sc dec each 2 sts to end. sl st to first st in round. finish off.<br />
<br />
Use tail to close remaining hole. Pull tail to ws, tie off & weave in.<br />
<br />
On foundation row, use tail to sew up the seam, pull tail to ws, tie off & weave in.<br />

A gay friend of mine had a dream in which the lesbians were presented with a new mascot. It's called a "lez-ard" and is a rainbow iguana. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I decided to photoshop up one and posted it on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/LizzyTheLezzy" target="_blank">Lizzy the Lezzy</a>'s facebook page. As of the writing of this post, her repost of my picture has gotten over 22,000 likes and almost 1,000 shares. I'm pretty blown away. My original post got somewhere around 75 likes.</div>

I decided to make these creatures using the colors from the corresponding pride flag for each. I present to you, the LGBTQ-nimals.</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-style: inherit; line-height: 1.5;">I will never go back to the cardboard circle method again. These are so simple, and the pom poms come out perfect every time. They look a little different based on what yarn you use and how thickly you wrap the yarn, but I'm gonna say that they are a uniform size and shape. </span></div>

<br />
By request, I made a spider web barrette for a friend of mine. Her only stipulation was that it have a purple spider on it, so that it would match some earrings she got for halloween.<br />
<br />
And here it is:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxWT0g1r9KuQ05YJa18jkbajakcCKPUIHdBo6I1IhUPJ4ST_PxJB9l5wiW1YILaSU-kw9YHs5l2FQHtQREO0aEu9zPBqRtRiWA0PL3ixYLPRDLoWXPzTKO_OQraSbTVa4iudp9Ptj_Ms4/s1600/IMG_4759.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxWT0g1r9KuQ05YJa18jkbajakcCKPUIHdBo6I1IhUPJ4ST_PxJB9l5wiW1YILaSU-kw9YHs5l2FQHtQREO0aEu9zPBqRtRiWA0PL3ixYLPRDLoWXPzTKO_OQraSbTVa4iudp9Ptj_Ms4/s400/IMG_4759.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Approximately 5.5in in diameter, finished. It has an alligator clip on the back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's how you do it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What you need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Size E hook</li>
<li>Sport weight yarn</li>
<li>Enough straight pins to pin each spoke of the web</li>
<li>A soft spot to pin to, a little bigger than the finished size of your web.</li>
<li>Glue mix (1 part glue to 1 part water. probably need only a teaspoon of mix)</li>
<li>Barrette or bobby pin</li>
<li>Spider (I used the top of a halloween spider ring)</li>
<li>Hot glue gun with glue</li>
<li>Glitter glue or gel</li>
<li>Blow dryer</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
**picot - ch 2, sl st to first ch</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ch 4, sl st to first st to make a loop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R1) Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2). *dc in next st, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Sl st to 3rd st. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R2) Ch 6 (counts as dc & ch 3). *dc in next dc, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Sl st to 3rd st.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R3) Ch 8 (counts as dc & ch 5). *dc in next dc. ch 5. Repeat from * around. Sl st to 3rd st.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R4) Ch 10 (counts as dc & ch 7). *dc in next dc. ch 7. Repeat from * around. sl st to 3rd st.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R5) Ch 12 (counts as dc & ch 9). *picot. dc in next dc, ch 9. Repeat from * around. Sl st to bottom of first picot. Finish off and weave in. Trim off excess yarn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you weave in, try not to do it too tight, because you're going to want to stretch it out in the next step.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Get your straight pins out, and prep your pinning surface. With the wrong side facing you, hold the middle of your web with your thumb, and, angling the pin toward the center of the web, pin the top picot to your surface. Stretch the bottom spoke to the length you want it, and pin the bottom spoke of your web at the picot, again angling the pin toward the center of the web. Continue around, pinning one side, then the opposite side to make the web even. Like so:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDzYL5dKcgo1PMlhC2zvYrLND_QPl83cEzKbhPsK3pdHZ_ME2cUmCpuMN1GsmvzIkJ4dbQTB8Q-ET0Y374z8mGy5dZvX5EV-ITc-DuyPjQzlxs-L_F5_sQKaAI9AwYG64hj62iB4MHg20/s1600/Web.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDzYL5dKcgo1PMlhC2zvYrLND_QPl83cEzKbhPsK3pdHZ_ME2cUmCpuMN1GsmvzIkJ4dbQTB8Q-ET0Y374z8mGy5dZvX5EV-ITc-DuyPjQzlxs-L_F5_sQKaAI9AwYG64hj62iB4MHg20/s320/Web.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
my epic drawing skillz on the pc...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mix your glue mix on a small plate or in a bowl. With your fingers or a paint brush, dab a drop of glue along each spoke and connecting piece of the stretched and pinned web. Cover the entire web, and blow dry with your blow dryer or heat gun. Unpin your web when dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you're using an alligator clip like I did, you're going to want to wrap it in yarn or ribbon matching your web color. Just get the whole thing as covered as you can. Hot glue the web to your barrette, attach your spider, and let cool. I added some hot glue to one circle of webbing nearest the spider, and also to the outer circle, while using a purple glitter gel on the opposite rounds and on each spoke. Blow dry after you do this to set the glitter. The hot glue will make the web a little more stiff and durable.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And there you have it! Let me know if you make this. Pictures are always welcome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I know, I know, I'm not around much these days. I've been working hard outside the home. Ah, well. I'm here now.<br />
<br />
So, I follow the Crochet Geek on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CrochetGeek7">facebook</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/tjw1963">youtube</a>. She occasionally posts these "what did you make with this pattern" things on facebook, and after trying out her <a href="http://www.crochetgeek.com/2013/06/crochet-star-sirius.html">crochet star- sirius</a> pattern and thoroughly confusing myself because I was sleepy when I watched the video for the first time, I made a few pretty little barrettes.<br />
<br />
Like so:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1276638_10153221707285080_1432234816_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="display: inline !important; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1276638_10153221707285080_1432234816_o.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/1294298_10153221037775080_1005783070_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/1294298_10153221037775080_1005783070_o.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And one of me being super awesome wearing the mint barrette:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/921345_10153222978575080_884118899_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/921345_10153222978575080_884118899_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I basically followed Crochet Geek's pattern, but only used rows 1&2 to make the barrettes. Also, in row two, it calls for 3hdc ch 2. Instead of the ch 2, I did a picot, which is ch 2 then sl st to the first ch. That's how I got the pretty little points on the ends. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The pattern I used/modified is as follows:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R1 = ch 3, sl st to beg ch. [2hdc, ch 2] five times to get the star pattern, sl st to first st </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
R2 = sl st to first ch 2 space [3hdc, ch 2, sl st to 1st ch, 3hdc, single crochet decrease over next 2 sts] around. Sl st to first st. Fasten off, weave in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You have the option at this point to do a little modifying if your star looks, for lack of a better word, flat. On the black star above, I used the tail of the yarn after I fastened off to then go up through the star to "tuck in" the narrow parts a bit more than they already were before I tied off and cut off the excess.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let me know if you make this, and of course, pictures are welcome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
Life has gotten very hectic for me. I'm still trying to do some crochet, but haven't had a chance to lately. I have gotten out and done some photography and some light editing of said pictures, but I haven't had the time to sit and, well, hook. **giggle**<br />
<br />
But here are some of my recent photos. You can see more on my <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/silvermoonbaby">Flickr</a>.<br />

So I found a pattern on Ravelry and got to it. It was fairly easy, but time consuming. I wanted it to be just perfect to I paid close attention to the lines and even checked some screen shots to make sure the different elements looked right (like the lense, all the little dots and vents and what not).<br />
<br />
I am quite pleased with the end results. This is the pattern I used (<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/star-wars-droid-beanies">Droid Beanies</a>). I added the ear flaps, blue border, ropes and tassels per my customer's order.<br />

<br />
I decided to use it to make a couple shamrock bobby pins. Love the pattern and it was super simple and super fast. I ended up even putting a button in the middle of mine cuz I thought it would be cute.<br />

The little flowers take me about 12 minutes to do if I pace myself, are super easy, and fun to do. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I use this pattern: <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-picot-flower" target="_blank">Picot Flower</a> </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguyz9nwqnbq33zRcpvdA9K4Te2vyKqqR9ys14o6svbJav6PKi0TWy4YUkFOLn1rfU00SqlsSnRWX3vkhWVyqu1NoyP0I5ZjG0N3h2CnJa2HRAQIRibgnm0DL3Rci_6gpSgn6eVvcYK0og/s1600/IMG_4218.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguyz9nwqnbq33zRcpvdA9K4Te2vyKqqR9ys14o6svbJav6PKi0TWy4YUkFOLn1rfU00SqlsSnRWX3vkhWVyqu1NoyP0I5ZjG0N3h2CnJa2HRAQIRibgnm0DL3Rci_6gpSgn6eVvcYK0og/s640/IMG_4218.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You may notice that one of these things is not like the other ones... I did one wagon wheel posy as well. The pattern is in a book I have from a kit "I taught myself Crochet". Pretty sure copyright laws prevent me from reproducing that one without permission. It's essentially 8dc with a ch2 between each one for the spokes, then you make your petals out of the second color, then the pointy ones behind those are kinda like the picot petals of the other flowers without the picot.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In any case, I hope my customer is happy with them. She told me she wanted bright colors, and she liked pink with green.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's all finished and looks just like the first except the hat part is a bit bigger, since it was made for a one year old, not a newborn.<br />
<br />
I've also picked up a bunch of brightly colored crochet thread to work up some picot flower bobby pins for another customer. I gifted her one, and she loved it so much that she's ordered five more. Her only stipulation is that she wants them brightly colored. The one I gave her is a white flower with green leaves.<br />
<br />
I'll be sure to take pictures of the final products!<br />
<br />
Be well,<br />

I must say I am quite pleased with the outcome.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSTAiy4O4ZR-C1UKP0EfaFL2r3lbHtVH8qYjMF_r-kDtr_bucW-aFr7R8280rV0DfS6kwZxEvhrYOOoEDvWak4iYpL3hnX80peGe4B9EPUdWK81QH3xZ2a9D78O3c6nNZTyzW9ZEekPW8/s1600/IMG_4216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSTAiy4O4ZR-C1UKP0EfaFL2r3lbHtVH8qYjMF_r-kDtr_bucW-aFr7R8280rV0DfS6kwZxEvhrYOOoEDvWak4iYpL3hnX80peGe4B9EPUdWK81QH3xZ2a9D78O3c6nNZTyzW9ZEekPW8/s400/IMG_4216.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This is the pattern I used for the ears, more or less. (<a href="http://tangledthreadsrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/02/yoda-hatcap-this-is-yoda-cap-i-just.html?spref=bl">Tangled Threads and Random Thoughts: Crocheted Yoda Hat/Cap</a>) The only change I made was that on the decrease rows I was using single crochet, but on the normal rows, I used half double crochet. I found that it gave the ear a more pleasing length.<br />
<br />
I know that the pattern for the hat itself was found online, but for the life of me, I can't find it now. So I'm going to reproduce it here, but please, if you know the author of this pattern, let me know who it is so I can give credit where credit is due.<br />
<br />
I have it marked in my notebook as "Infant Hat"<br />
<br />
R1) ch 4. join as a ring. 11dc into ring. slst tog<br />
<br />
R2) slst btwn next two sts. ch3 dc into same spot. 2dc ea space betwn sts around. (24sts) slst to top of ch3<br />
<br />
R3) slst btwn next 2sts. ch3 dc in same spot. (1dc, 2dc) around btwn ea st. slst to top of ch 3<br />
<br />
R4-R12) slst btwn next two sts. ch3. dc btwn ea st around. join with slst to top of ch 3<br />
<br />
R13) rev sc around btwn ea st. fasten off and weave in end.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to show my customer! I'm sure she'll be super geeked to finally try this on her new baby girl.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
*update*</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My customer la-la-loved the hat! I'm so pleased. She's already taken pics of it and posted to facebook. I can't wait for her to have her baby so I can see it worn.</div>

That last couple months of being sick, then having that sinus infection were hell. Since I've been making stuff more or less for other people and for other people's babies, I took a hiatus from crochet while I was sick. I just couldn't bring myself to make stuff for babies while I was so ill.<br />
<br />
But now it's on like Donkey Kong! I have a Yoda hat that I need to start, as well as an oatmeal coloured diaper cover for a photographer friend of mine. I also was hoping to surprise the parents of the child I'm making the Yoda hat for with something else Star Wars related for their little bundle of joy, but I'm not sure right now if it will be feasible. The idea works in my head, but I'm not certain it would work out like I have it pictured.<br />
<br />
I will post photos of my work as I go along.<br />
<br />
Blessed be! And thanks for sticking with me!<br /><br />

Seriously, I just want to be over all of it.<br />

Looks like I have an ear infection now too. BOO! HISS!<br />

I do, however have pics of the hat I made for my sister :)<br />

I love them, I've made a couple pairs for myself, and several for other people. One person even told me that she can "shuffle" in them, and they won't come off her feet.<br />
<br />
They are so very easy to make and so very comfortable! The original pattern can be found on <a href="http://zoomyummy.com/2011/01/21/how-to-make-simple-crochet-slippers/" target="_blank">ZoomYummy</a>. It's a little vague, but still easy to follow with all the pictures. I modded it to fit a little better for me. All credit for the pattern is due to Zoom Yummy, and I do not intend any infringement, only an alternative.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/738144_10152391493840080_1569244789_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/738144_10152391493840080_1569244789_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
it's my legs n feet!!</div>
<br />
<br />
I'm using an H-hook with worsted weight yarn.<br />
<br />
R1: Ch5, join with sl st to make a circle<br />
<br />
R2: Ch2, 7dc in center ring. Join with sl st to first dc<br />
<br />
R3: Ch2, 1dc into first st, 2dc each st around, Join with sl st to first dc (16 sts)<br />
<br />
R4: Ch2, 1dc into first st, 2dc each st around, Join with sl st to first dc (32 sts)<br />
<br />
R5-8:Ch 2, 1dc for ea dc around, sl st to first dc (32 sts)<br />
<br />
(the rest of the pattern is as originally written, but with the numbers changed to reflect new row numbers)<br />
<br />
R9: Turn, ch 2, dc into second ch from hook & ea st to make 20 sts. Ch2, turn<br />
<br />
R10: 1dc into second ch from hook and ea st across. Ch2, turn<br />
<br />
R11: 1dc in first dc from hook, 1dc in ea st across, 2dc in last st. Ch2, turn (22sts)<br />
<br />
R12-15: 1dc in second dc from hook & in ea st across. ch2, turn. (22sts)<br />
<br />
R16: 1dc in first dc from hook, 1dc in ea st across, 2dc in last st. Ch2, turn (24sts)<br />
<br />
R17-18: 1dc in second dc from hooh & ea st across. finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.<br />
<br />
Turn the back (heel) end of the slipper inside out. Line up the sts at the back end, and with a tapestry needle, sew the back of the slipper together. I make two passes (from the top down, then back up) to sort of reinforce the seam. Weave in the excess.<br />
<br />
For the edging:<br />
<br />
Join another piece of yarn to the back seam with a sl st.<br />
<br />
Ch2, sc in the first "hole", ch1<br />
<br />
(sc, ch1) in ea "hole" around to make the edge.<br />
<br />
Across the toe, ch1 at the first corner of the toe, sc in ea ch across (about 10sts) ch1,<br />
<br />
(sc, ch1) the next side<br />
<br />
sl st to first ch2 spot at the back. Finish off & weave in the ends.<br />
<br />

I've gotten two more orders just from me wearing my hat.<br />
<br />
I've made it in my brown and green, and for a friend in black and hot pink. Right now, I'm working on one for my sister in teal and wine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/735446_10152388002530080_1515653651_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/735446_10152388002530080_1515653651_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(crappy cell pic)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm so happy that people like this! I'll post pics of my sisters hat when I'm done with it too. She kinda ordered it when I was sick with the flu, so I haven't been working on it as much as I possibly could.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also, I've been commissioned to make a Yoda (Star Wars) hat for an infant, and one diaper cover (so far) for a photographer. The photographer told me that if she likes my work, she'll spread my name out there, and maybe I'll get more work from other photographers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So yeah, my crochet life is getting awesome! I'm so happy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" width="400" /></a></div>

Not because they are in style, but because my ears and forehead get cold, and when my forehead gets cold, it makes me unhappy. Especially if there is wind.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I decided to sew the back together tho, since I just made this for me. If I was going to be selling it, I'd have made it with a button so it could be adjustable. </div>

<br />
I found a free pattern at the store, and I'm gonna do it. I just need to decide on color, and get enough yarn and stuff. And, well, keep the little one out of it. . .<br />
<br />
It all started when a friend tagged me in a picture on facebook. . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1.cpcache.com/product/620727415/im_an_amazing_hooker_tote_bag.jpg?color=NA&height=460&width=460" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1.cpcache.com/product/620727415/im_an_amazing_hooker_tote_bag.jpg?color=NA&height=460&width=460" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a bag from <a href="http://www.cafepress.com/+im_an_amazing_hooker_tote_bag,620727415" target="_blank">CafePress</a>. You can totally buy it for $15.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, well, I want to see if I can DO a tote. The blanket I made was fun, but got tedious after a while. I figure, the tote pattern I got is made in pieces then sewn together. That should break the tedium, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also, I'm thinking I need a produce bag. . . The plastic ones at the store kinda suck, and I'd really just like my own. So that's another pattern I'll have to look for or make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/SilverMoonBaby/000%20EidoSlice%20000/TwistedPrincess_Siggy.png" width="400" /></a></div>

I've gotten several notes from his teacher the last few days about him throwing tantrums, scratching himself, and hiding in the coat closet instead of participating in class.<br />
<br />
A friend of mine suggested that I make him a lovey to put in his backpack so he knows my love is always with him. She used to kiss a hankie and put it in her daughter's backpack. I think it's a great idea!<br />
<br />
So I got out a couple scraps of yarn and got to it. I asked my son what color a heart should be, and he said "black and white" so that's what I did.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxmrVrdvPr3rlqxpmtEwlMdU9wrs38h2k3gSf1ImMA8VNa3aTyealEqdMvSNHqWn6og6HIzNDhlbTUfFl8CMgCA-GVsER6L_uE-HxX4WOuD53OTswwx9b4qvHaWaUtP5IYrOJPvH-5aJ4/s1600/IMG_4089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxmrVrdvPr3rlqxpmtEwlMdU9wrs38h2k3gSf1ImMA8VNa3aTyealEqdMvSNHqWn6og6HIzNDhlbTUfFl8CMgCA-GVsER6L_uE-HxX4WOuD53OTswwx9b4qvHaWaUtP5IYrOJPvH-5aJ4/s320/IMG_4089.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzF1P3o-wkkZhapCd7w7PYbBQ2UMete7-bsdqzUfezKOwUVSYUgEJlAZXbk95YubRdkfDhHqGbA-CNDNMuhPhFSK55zm0vXDgNFqFYsk6bnW7ocGiKY0qXC6FZ3lt_ICLsj7wz8To_iY8/s1600/IMG_4092.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzF1P3o-wkkZhapCd7w7PYbBQ2UMete7-bsdqzUfezKOwUVSYUgEJlAZXbk95YubRdkfDhHqGbA-CNDNMuhPhFSK55zm0vXDgNFqFYsk6bnW7ocGiKY0qXC6FZ3lt_ICLsj7wz8To_iY8/s320/IMG_4092.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The pocket friend is about the size of my palm, so it's a good size that won't get lost. It's made in three pieces, then sewn together. You will need to know <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EdRuM6I-3w" target="_blank">tunesian crochet</a> to make this. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To make the main square:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With afghan hook, ch 11, then tunesian crochet for 20 rows. Finish off and weave in your ends. (alternately, you could leave a really long tail to sew up the edges after attaching the appliques)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To make the heart appliques:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ch 2</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1 and turn</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2sc in ea st, ch 1 and turn (4 sts)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2sc in ea st, ch 1 and turn (8 sts)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
hdc 4 times in 2nd sc from hook, sk the next st. Sl st next st, sk the next st, 4hdc in next st, sl st to the last st</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sl st each st along the edge down to the tip, ch 1, sl st up to the next hdc "hump". Finish off, and weave in</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made two heart appliques, one with worsted weight yarn, and one with sport weight yarn, and appropriate hooks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Attach the hearts to the front of the square, fold it over with the appliques on the front, and stitch the sides up. Finish off the edges, and weave in the end of the yarn you used to sew up the edges. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And there you have it! One backpack lovey for your munchkin. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Unfortunately, all the patterns I'm coming up with are flat, or don't look like a poinsettia to me. At least, they didn't look like I wanted my poinsettia to look like. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So I did what I do best... I messed around with some techniques and stitches until I found something that works. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Introducing: Picot Poinsettia!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyjRlUG2ATiGyaiOztb3Ex2SxyeDVWDKgD_6Lc3maP5F0Iw-ZNvNmpiT28u76cDxEEY4d7aOOsoJ5piH1TJx7TGTJzpb5uXf3Bg4Ff1WTqY62VEZkYtBcgUNXz9KNEUs7-ueS1m9bcBaQ/s1600/IMG_4087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: black; font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyjRlUG2ATiGyaiOztb3Ex2SxyeDVWDKgD_6Lc3maP5F0Iw-ZNvNmpiT28u76cDxEEY4d7aOOsoJ5piH1TJx7TGTJzpb5uXf3Bg4Ff1WTqY62VEZkYtBcgUNXz9KNEUs7-ueS1m9bcBaQ/s320/IMG_4087.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">oh look! it's me again!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeMAAbw8d94oFRcbamfpMS9u1LSAlBPJq_xKI9EgVL8qeacTg0mbrMKWTyvLL_mwhkAMP857C5-RN0TplDTCJiLNX71Jh3DQoMBaCoNJmj1O6l6DmOhfhZv-Utbmybtm4Q_inuxQNMB2s/s1600/IMG_4088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: black; font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeMAAbw8d94oFRcbamfpMS9u1LSAlBPJq_xKI9EgVL8qeacTg0mbrMKWTyvLL_mwhkAMP857C5-RN0TplDTCJiLNX71Jh3DQoMBaCoNJmj1O6l6DmOhfhZv-Utbmybtm4Q_inuxQNMB2s/s320/IMG_4088.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">top down view</span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I found a five pointed picot flower pattern on Ravelry a while back, and I make those things like mad. They are so easy to do, and they work up fast. So I decided to apply that technique to a four petal design, and see what I could come up with. I must say, I am rather pleased with the results. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This is my pattern.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I used a "k" hook and worsted weight yarn. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">You will need two colors, Your main color, and green. If you want a realistic looking poinsettia, use red, white, or cream with your green.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">To picot: ch 3 then sl st to first st of that chain</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Ch 4. Sl St tog to make a ring <span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">★ Sc once in the ring, ch 3. Repeat from </span></span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">★ three times to make 4 loops. Sl st to first st</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">☆Petal</span></span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">☆ Sc in first ch3 loop. hdc, dc, tr, picot, tr, dc, hdc, sc Repeat for all loops, sl st to first st.</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">Turn flower over and ★ insert hook front to back and sc in center loop, ch 3. Repeat from </span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">★ three times to make 4 loops. </span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">☆Petal</span></span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">☆ Sc in first ch3 loop. hdc, dc, tr, picot, tr, dc, hdc, sc Repeat for all loops, sl st to first st. Finish off, and weave in</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">With green yarn, attach a loop to the back of the poinsettia. </span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">★ sc in the bar between petals (see top down pic for regerence). Ch 3. Repeat from </span><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;">★ three more times to make 4 loops, sl st to first st</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: #f2f2f2; line-height: 23px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">☆Petal</span>☆ Sc in first ch3 loop. hdc, dc, tr, picot, tr, dc, hdc, sc Repeat for all loops, sl st to first st. Finish off, and weave in. </span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="line-height: 23px;">To form your poinsettia, press the center down on a flat surface and gently tug up on each petal and leaf.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="line-height: 23px;">To make it a bobby, just slip a bobby pin through a couple loops of yarn in the back. No sewing necessary. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="line-height: 23px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="line-height: 23px;">And there you have it! I hope you enjoy making this lovely flower. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="line-height: 23px;">Peace, </span></div>

<br />
Honestly, it did! But, it ended up being a me sized hat. So, you know, adult and stuff.<br />
<br />
I started out with some Bernat yarn in a nice variegated brown and an "I" hook. Unfortunately, I threw away the label, and I think the color or line has been discontinued, but the Red Heart Soft line is similar, and the second yarn I used was Red Heart Soft in Guacamole.<br />

So, you need two yarns. Your main color, and your stripe color.<br />
An "I" crochet hook<br />
Blunt needle for weaving in ends and attaching the swirly.<br />
<br />
Don't forget, if you need to look up the abbreviations, check here: <a href="http://www.needlecraftuniversity.com/libcrochet.htm">http://www.needlecraftuniversity.com/libcrochet.htm</a><br />
<br />
Start with a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLuSVyKvoUg" target="_blank">magic circle</a>, make 6 sts into the circle. Pull it tight and sl st to the first st<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>r1) Ch 1. 2sc ea st around (12 sts) sl st tog & ch1</li>
<li>r2) 2sc ea st around (24 sts) sl st tog & ch1</li>
<li>r3) sc ea sc around (24 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r4) 2sc ea st around (48 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r5-8) sc ea st around (48 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r9) sc in same spot, [1sc, 2sc] around (72 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r10) sc ea sc around (72 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r11-21 sc in spiral</li>
<li>r22) switch colors. Sc ea sc around, sl st & ch 1 (72 sts)<br /> You can carry the first color along the seam if you don't want to cut it, that's what I did.</li>
<li>r23-25) sc ea sc around in spiral. remember to carry your first yarn along the seam if you didn't cut it in the last step</li>
<li>r26) switch back to first color. Sc ea sc (72 sts) sl st tog & ch 1</li>
<li>r27-33) sc ea sc in spiral. At the end of r33, sl st to the first st of the row and finish off</li>
<li>Weave in all ends.</li>
</ul>
<div>
The spiral embellishment is a pattern I got from another blog called <a href="http://zoomyummy.com/" target="_blank">ZoomYummy</a></div>
<div>
I adore her patterns! So simple to read, and easy to do. </div>

So there you have it, a nice, warm, fuzzy hat for winter. I can attest to the fact that it's super warm, and blocks a fair amount of wind.<br />

The reason? I have eight ... EIGHT! ... cans of apple sauce that are just sitting around.<br />
<br />
So, tonight, I got out the loaf pans, found a recipe, and I am in the middle of baking some bread.<br />
<br />
Here's the recipe I used: <a href="http://allrecipes.com/recipe/applesauce-bread-i/detail.aspx" target="_blank">Applesauce bread</a><br />
<br />
It smells delicious! I'm baking three loaves because my bread pans are a little smaller than it called for. I'll make sure I edit this post when it's done and I've tasted some!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
**edit**<br />
Well, the flavor is good, but if I make this recipe again, I'm leaving out the oil all together. The bread is over moist and didn't rise at all. The main complaint my husband had was that there wasn't enough apple flavor.<br />
<br />
<br />

The stress is starting to get at me.<br />
<br />
But I'm still doing crochet.<br />
Crochet makes me happy.<br />
Crochet, and the smile on my little boy's face. Even when he's being a butt.<br />
<br />
I'm trying to bust out this afghan I promised my mother-in-law for Christmas. As it is, I have about 18 hours into it, and about five or six left to go.<br />
<br />
It's a pretty simple ripple afghan, but I'm doing blocks of color instead of stripes. The ends have 4 rows of cream, 4 rows of white, then it switches to the main color, which is a nice grey tweed.<br />
<br />
The pattern is pretty simple. I got it online, and if you google "Ripple afghan" it should be the first link. The author of the pattern doesn't allow mass sharing, though, so I can't link it.<br />
<br />
The blanket is working up very nicely too. My mother-in-law has seen it in progress, and she thinks it's beautiful.<br />
<br />
I really hope to have it done this week or next, but I'm really not sure of a time frame. I started the blanket in late spring, then our air conditioner broke and the summer was so very hot it was uncomfortable to work with. So I just picked it up again last week..... after my husband reminded me that it was November already, and almost December at that.<br />
<br />
I hope to be able to share pictures soon.<br />
<br />

I was just putting too much into the card holder pouch that came with my wallet.<br />
<br />
So, I decided to grab some Halloween motif duct tape on the cheap (around $1.50 for the whole roll), take some measurements, and get to it.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">This tutorial is my own design. Any similarities to any other pattern is purely coincidence.</span></i><br />
<br />
This is the end result:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the one with the paper fill, I made the tab a little wider. I was just trying different things, and that's how it ended up.</div>
<br />
<br />
Here are instructions on how to make your own.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
You will need:<br /><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-AqMiymP02ZZ1Iv4130fNph7SVMEXJ2ju_7K4xlb2dqsV2dQEr8OIX7dWlrgbo4zw9fUuLMT_VgH7q0dXMvtjk7fwfQveS7SScweYe31XKcUrXy1uQYS9kOlSRRbWoTnwsdcxE6nQgrk/s1600/IMG_4034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-AqMiymP02ZZ1Iv4130fNph7SVMEXJ2ju_7K4xlb2dqsV2dQEr8OIX7dWlrgbo4zw9fUuLMT_VgH7q0dXMvtjk7fwfQveS7SScweYe31XKcUrXy1uQYS9kOlSRRbWoTnwsdcxE6nQgrk/s320/IMG_4034.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
A roll of duct tape<br />
An exacto or razor blade<br />
(Paper or cardstock is optional, it makes a stiffer wallet.)<br />
<br />
If you are using paper:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Cut a piece of paper about 3in x 6in. You will end up folding it in half, but for now, you will work with it flat.</li>
<li>Cut a piece of duct tape about 6in long and wrap it around the paper short ways keeping the edge of the tape even with the edge of the paper. </li>
<li>Repeat step 2 keeping the edges of the duct tape even with each other until the entire piece of paper is covered in tape. There will be a little excess, that's ok. Do not trim the excess. This will be your fold over.If there is little to no excess, go ahead and add another piece of tape to the end. </li>
<li>Fold your wallet in half leaving your excess out, and using the same method as in step two, wrap the wallet in another layer of tape. This seals the edges. Leave the end open with the excess from before out.</li>
<li>Figure out how long you want the fold-over to be, Without the tab, mine is about an inch long. I just used the excess from when I was wrapping the paper. </li>
<li>Cut another piece of tape about 6in long, and lay it sticky side upon your work surface.</li>
<li>Cut a smaller piece of tape, about 1/2 the width or so of the tape, and line it up with a long edge of the tape. Stick it evenly along the edge. This makes the pocket for the tab.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPBgZUBrX5bSNgLg4LoX6mKSTo-o6ap88Zpfvp2eWj91JKwfr_4Lgm-gL-5uMb9ZG032dMRRn9yfx1skcBWwBZCvcY-ossjTjLb-SXjSItXU1I7ujEUhvGb7STNsLfAT7I-vXOliRtQlI/s1600/IMG_4028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPBgZUBrX5bSNgLg4LoX6mKSTo-o6ap88Zpfvp2eWj91JKwfr_4Lgm-gL-5uMb9ZG032dMRRn9yfx1skcBWwBZCvcY-ossjTjLb-SXjSItXU1I7ujEUhvGb7STNsLfAT7I-vXOliRtQlI/s320/IMG_4028.JPG" width="320" /></a><br /> This piece is a little smaller for demonstration purposes<br /> You can make the "pocket" portion as shallow as this, or as deep as half the strip of tape. Just make sure you make your tab length to match.<br /></li>
<li>Keeping the "pocket" about center, wrap the tape around the wallet just below where your fold over ends, making sure you are on the correct side so the tab you will make on the fold over can be inserted in the pocket.</li>
<li>Cut another piece of tape about 3in long. Tape it to the top of the fold over so that just less than half of the new strip hangs over. </li>
<li>Snip the new strip of tape about an inch on each side right next to the edge of the fold over. This leaves about an inch for the width of the tab. Fold your snipped edges sticky side to sticky side with the center portion to make the tab.</li>
<li>Slide the tab into the pocket , and you have a finished wallet, you can now fill it with goodies.</li>
</ol>
<br /><br />
<br />
If you are not using paper:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Cut a piece of duct tape about 8in long. Lay it sticky side up on your work surface. </li>
<li>Cut a second piece of tape the same length and place it sticky side down length wise covering only half of the other piece of tape</li>
<li>Cut a third piece and repeat on the other side of the first piece.</li>
<li>Fold the sticky edges in on themselves to make a solid, non sticky strip</li>
<li>Trim the very ends of the strip so they are even</li>
<li>Fold wallet in half, leaving about an inch and a half to two inches for the fold over.</li>
<li>Wrap the wallet in another layer of tape keeping the edges of the new layer even with the bottom of the wallet and with each other. This seals the edges of the wallet. Leave the end with the fold over open.</li>
<br />
I found this one (<a href="http://kittyboocrochet.wordpress.com/2008/06/01/poppy-brooch/" target="_blank">Poppy Brooch</a>). Although it doesn't have a clear cut pattern for the center, I was able to fudge one by making five <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0pHAP5R4PY" target="_blank">puff stitches</a> in a circle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Make 2.<br />Ch 6. Slip stitch into first stitch to form a ring.<br />24 single crochet into ring.<br />Single crochet into each single crochet, increasing every other stitch to get 36 stitches.<br />1 ch [1 single crochet, 1 double crochet, 7 treble, 1 double crochet 1 slip stitch] 3 times with last slip stitch into 1st ch.<br />Fasten off.<br />Join the two pieces.</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
So the pattern I used for the center: chain 6, then sl st tog to make a circle. then 5 puff stitches into the circle. Fasten off.<br />
<br />
And when I sewed it all together, and added my bobby pin, this is what it looks like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/52468_10152253299815080_67588332_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/52468_10152253299815080_67588332_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(crappy cell phone pic)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So happy Veteran's Day. And if you are a veteran, please accept my sincerest thanks for serving your country and helping to maintain my freedom. </div>
